Our Thanksgiving Break

We were blessed this Thanksgiving with a visit from A's Mom and brother T. We are so thankful that they decided to make the long two day trip down to spend this time with us. We spent the week practicing our family traditions:

Tradition #1 - We decorate sugar cookies to look like turkeys. Using chocolate frosting we paste candy corn onto the cookie as tail feathers, then using orange frosting we make beaks and feet. Finally two mini M&M's make up the eyes. They're almost too sweet to eat - but that doesn't stop us!

We took some time to show mom and T around Alabama (being that it's their maiden voyage to the "deep" south). A trip to the only Hyundai manufacturing plant in the USA was a must - since T drives a Hyundai Tiburon! This was a fascinating tour and we definitely could go back in order to catch all the things we missed!

Tradition #2 - We always watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and play parade bingo. Most of the time we all peter out before the end, but it is still fun, fun, fun!

Tradition #3 - Mom snitching a bit of turkey while A is still slicing the bird. She can't resist such a deliciously smelling tasty morsel.

This year the girls, on their own accord, made these adorable turkey place markers for our harvest table. I had no pattern to give them, so they created these from their imagination and I am so proud of what they created! I think this will be a new tradition. If you look closely to the turkey on the right, which is P's turkey, the toe is bandaged up!

Tradition #4 - Playing on the race track! This one is rather new, since we just got the track last year, but I foresee this one continuing on and on. Much joy and competition was had by all!

P, nice orange pumpkin shirt! Who gave that snazzy shirt to you? D, the cookies looked cute...but candy corn is too sweet to eat! Isn't there any CHOCOLATE?
