Today we received confirmation that D has been registered to participate in this years Scripps National Spelling Bee through a local homeschooling group. Spelling comes very naturally to D and so this bee might just be a perfect outlet for her. Since the first time I presented this opportunity to D a few weeks ago she has been chomping at the bit to get started on "spelling". She even bugged me to print out a list of 2nd grade words and forbade me to show them to her so that she could just spell them - without any studying. I then had to inform her that children do a lot of studying of the words before the bee. So today as she was studying her "normal" school spelling words we added in a bunch of "bee" spelling words. She is lovin' it!!!
