D must wear her hair in a bun for ballet class. It has usually been my job to fix her hair; however, as of the last week or so D has worked diligently at creating the perfect ballet bun on her own. She is most insistent that there are no bumps on the top of her head and will brush and wet and brush and comb and pat and brush the top until she has it just right. I just had to document this stepping stone she is taking to assert her independence.

If the dance steps have to be perfect, why shouldn't a ballerina have a perfect bun too?! Great job, D.
