St. Thomas - U.S. Virgin Islands

We were awakened by the noise of side thrusters pushing us into port. This is our view at 6:50 a.m. Atlantic Time. Beautiful!

We spent a few hours in the morning doing some quick shopping (maybe we bought something for our girls there, but maybe not...) in the local districts. Shopping isn't our primary focus for the trip, but it sure is a business for a lot of folks on the boat! We were just killing time waiting for our first excursion, sailing on a catamaran and snorkeling around a shipwreck. It was a lot of fun seeing all the different varieties of fish, sea urchins, coral reefs, and the shipwreck. We took lots of pictures on our waterproof camera but will have to wait to get those developed.

The view below is of the port side (left) of the ship. Our room is the first round hole from the front of the boat, on the lowest level up from the water, but not the tiny holes right at the water.

The next two pictures are views of St Thomas from the port. The water really is as blue as it looks in these pictures!

And finally, we watched the sun set as we sailed away from St Thomas and on to tomorrows adventure in St. Maarten! We're a little bummed because we received a note in our room that our excursion for tomorrow was cancelled due to lack of participation, but we're hoping to find another trip to go on when they open the travel counter tomorrow morning! If not, we've heard there is a beautiful beach on the island that we can camp out on and enjoy the warm weather!
