Science Saturday

Lots of science around these here parts - let me expound...

First off, P has been studying for a competition called the Science Olympiad for the last two months. Many schools in the central Alabama region attended the Science Olympiad at Auburn University on Saturday. This is the first year that her school is sending a team, well actually two teams, to compete - 34 kids in all. Her "events," chosen by her teachers, were Dynamic Planet and Write it/Do it.

Dynamic Planet is a 30 question test about our planet that all teams had to take. Write it/Do it involves Partner A writing directions to build a replicate of the model they are viewing and Partner B creating a model based only on the written directions of Partner A.

Both of these events had her paired with another classmate. P and her partner won 4th place in Write it/Do it! Overall, 8 students from P's school placed, which makes the 4th place even more special!

Secondly, D and I worked on several science lessons lately. On Saturday, while P was off competing, D and I made Homemade Slime of white glue, water and Borax. I love when science is fun!

You rock, P. Congratulations!! Amazing that you can read and follow directions when your Dad never does. And what fun, D, really getting your hands right into the project.
