The Little Lemonade Stand That Could

D has had this dream, to help the financially poor of the world. For a while there she kept asking me to find some "poor people" that we could help. But then the devastating earthquakes in Haiti and Chili happened and we found a cause to champion. Now that that was solved, we just had to put her plan into action. She wanted to have a lemonade stand and give all the money away to help others. It took a while to find the right weekend - one that was free from too many other activities and free from rain.

So this past Saturday, starting at 9 AM we set up a lemonade stand in our front yard. She had every detail planned out in her head! She offered both pink and yellow lemonade at $.50 a glass. At first I was very scared that she wouldn't have a single customer. But then cars started stopping!! One gentleman was on his way to a yard sale deeper into our neighborhood and said he would pass the word along - and he did it - because people started coming from the other direction because they had heard at the yard sales that there was lemonade being sold!!!

People were extremely generous. Some just donated money for her cause without tasting the lemonade at all. Some didn't realize that she was giving the money away, but liked her friendly attitude and her tasty lemonade and gave her a little extra money. In the end, D made $74 at her lemonade stand that was open for 3 hours. She was so thrilled and couldn't wait to donate the money to Haiti relief for the homeless through World Vision . She has such a sweet heart that desires to help anyone and everyone, making the world a happier place. She is already planning her next profitable lemonade stand!!
