Movin' On Out

Today was loading day for our move to Bama. We had some concerns - such as - will our loaders pass the background check at the base gate, will they have someone elses household items on the truck and not be able to fit ours, how long will it take to load, etc. We've had many friends move this summer and have seen and heard horror stories. But overall our experience turned out to be a very positive one. The truck arrived at 10:30 AM, with 4 loaders plus the driver. These guys were ready to go (after spending 2 1/2 hours getting through base security) and before we knew it, all our "stuff" was on the front lawn and driveway and being packed in the truck. They finished packing at 3:00 PM (which is considered record time!) and on their way to get the truck weighed. It is very important to us how much our "stuff" weighs, since the military will only pay for us to move 14,500 lbs. SOOO, our big news is that we weighed in at 14,820 lbs!!! We are elated! When we had to move houses back in February we weighed in at 20,00 lbs (yikes!) and so started our major weight reduction program. If we didn't "love, love, love" it, out it went... We are tickled pink to have lost 5000 lbs. It was tough, but we made it!

So the pic is of all our belongings waiting to be packed in the Mayflower truck. In typical Air Force fashion, the two other trucks you see behind our Mayflower are two other neighbors having their belongings packed up in boxes. They will also be moving this week. So 3 moving trucks on one block - that is base housing for ya, always dodging those moving trucks.
